TB exposure lawsuit
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Florida woman is suing Forum Health, saying she was exposed to a patient with tuberculosis last year.
Tracy L. Phillips of Cape Coral, Fla., is seeking more than $25,000 in damages.
The suit, filed Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, says Phillips was exposed to the disease when she worked as a registered nurse at Forum Health Northside Medical Center in August 2003. It says Forum did not "follow accepted medical standards" in dealing with a TB-infected patient.
Forum Health officials said this morning they had not seen the suit and would not comment.
Phillips' attorney, Ilan Wexler, said Phillips subsequently tested positive for TB herself and has undergone treatment.
Wexler said Phillips no longer works for Forum.

Documents filed Wednesday in common pleas court said the case has been settled and the complaint is voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiffs. Terms of the settlement were not included in the court papers.
