Elections board subpoenas 3 men

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Board of Elections has issued subpoenas to three men associated with the Mahoning County branch of America Coming Together Ohio to appear at a hearing at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 24.
The group's regional field director, assistant regional field director and an ACT employee will be asked under oath to explain two voter registration cards submitted to the board of elections with apparently fraudulent signatures, board director Norma Williams said.
The left-leaning organization has registered about 10,000 potential voters in Trumbull and Mahoning counties, primarily by going door to door.
At an informal hearing last month, regional field director Bill Padisak said that an employee registering voters door-to-door in Newton Falls was deceived by a practical joker who claimed to be someone else.
The joker signed the card in the other person's name, he said.
The organization has not yet explained the second apparently fraudulent card, filed on behalf of a Niles woman who said a signature on the bottom was not hers.
