Police arrest suspect in felonious assault
GIRARD -- A Youngstown man wanted for the beating, stabbing and shooting of a Girard man was captured early today on Youngstown's West Side.
Detective John Norman said Jabbar Spires, 27, was taken into custody about 1:30 a.m. without incident at his residence at 21 Halls Heights Ave. He was arrested by city police and the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force.
He was scheduled to be arraigned today in municipal court on a charge of felonious assault.
He is accused of assaulting Timothy McCauley, 24, at his home at 72 Mosier Road, Apt. 2, Saturday afternoon.
He remains in St. Elizabeth Health Center. His condition was not available this morning. Police had said the motive involved drugs.
Police found eight firearms, four swords, $814 in cash, drugs, a hydroponics system growing marijuana and a surveillance system at McCauley's residence.
