Pickup hits buggy, injuring Amish couple

STONEBORO, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said an elderly Amish couple were seriously injured when the buggy in which they were riding pulled into the path of a pickup truck in Lake Township.
Police said Levi Miller, 79, of Slater Road, was driving the buggy around 4:30 p.m. Monday and pulled from Slater Road onto District Road to go west.
A westbound pickup truck driven by Kyle Clayton, 19, of Lytle School Road, Sandy Lake, slammed into the rear of the buggy, police said.
Clayton, who was wearing a seat belt, wasn't injured.
Miller was taken to UPMC Horizon in Greenville but was later transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. His wife, Fannie Miller, 77, was flown directly from the scene to St. Elizabeth's.
Both were listed in critical condition this morning.
Police said the buggy was destroyed but did not divulge the fate of the horse pulling the buggy.
