JFK clips McDonald; Falls perfect in TAC



Mineral Ridge outslugged Maplewood, 15-10.
WARREN -- The Warren John F. Kennedy High baseball team completed a 12-inning suspended game with a 5-4 victory over McDonald on Thursday. The Eagles then edged the Blue Devils, 9-8, in a second game.
The suspended game, tied 3-3, was called in the 10th inning April 10 because of darkness.
McDonald took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 12th, but JFK's Mike Ellis, the winning pitcher (1-2), hit a double to drive in the tying run and then scored the deciding run.
Marc Rossi hit a pair of home runs and a single for JFK.
Corey Dukovic hit four singles and drove in two runs for McDonald. Tyler Stanley hit a double and single.
In the second game, the Eagles (5-10) rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Steve Orlosky hit a home run, single and drove in four runs for JFK. Paul Logar hit four singles for the Blue Devils (3-8).
Western Reserve 14, Lowellville 6
STRUTHERS -- The Blue Devils used 14 hits and nine Lowellville errors to register the Inter-County League win at Cene Park. Steve Lenhart tripled, Nick Sanders and Josh Smith doubled and Ryan Pauken singled three times for Western Reserve.
For the Rockets, Steve Pinciaro had a homer, triple and a double.
Jackson-Milton 14, Mathews 4
NORTH JACKSON -- The Bluejays (5-10, 3-5 ICL) led 10-1 after three innings. Adam Keck had three hits and scored three runs for Jackson-Milton. Zack Kosa, Mark Gibbs, Zack Tomaino, Tim Shaw, Brent Hagaman and Bart McGee each had two hits.
Mineral Ridge 15, Maplewood 10
CORTLAND -- Brad Ward and Brandon Linert each had three hits to lead Mineral Ridge. Chris Broennle, Tom Desmond and Tim Grant each added two hits for the Rams (5-6).
Craig Clemson had two hits, including a homer, and Jake Abbott added two hits for Maplewood.
Newton Falls 6, Champion 2
CHAMPION -- The Tigers kept their unbeaten streak (9-0) going in the Trumbull Athletic Conference and they are 14-2 overall.
Andy Grunder (4-0) scattered eight hits and struck out eight to pick up the win. Michael Pelyak hit three singles and scored twice, while Nick Bjelac hit a triple and single and drove in three runs.
Drew Szepietowski hit a home run and two singles to pace the Golden Flashes (6-6, 4-2).
Liberty 12, Girard 10
GIRARD -- The Leopards scored six times in the fourth inning to take a 9-5 lead. Tom Williams homered in the first inning and Nick Canterino doubled for the Indians.
