SEXUAL ASSAULT Date rape and drugs

Alcohol is the main drug used in date-rape crimes, but several others are frequently abused. They include, but are not limited to:
Rohypnol: Usually a white pill packaged in bubble packs that may emit a blue or green dye when dissolved in liquid. Onset is 15 to 30 minutes and effects may last two to three days. They include intoxication, dizziness, muscle relaxation and blackout. This drug is 10 times stronger than Valium and can cause "snapshots of memory," in which the victim slips in and out of consciousness.GHB: Usually a clear liquid somewhat thicker than water. It's often used as a fat burner or a sleeping aid and is popular with some body builders. GHB occurs naturally in the body but can be fatal if ingested. Effects typically last four to six hours and victims have no sensation in their bodies. Most people suddenly wake up alert with no memory of the previous several hours.Ketamine: This odorless, colorless and tasteless drug is used by veterinarians to sedate animals for surgery and can be used to sedate children. If misused, however, Ketamine can produce flashbacks and hallucinations similar to those of illicit drugs PCP or LSD. It has a fast onset of five to 20 minutes, and other effects include memory loss, no sense of touch and increased heart rate.Ecstasy: Typically a small pill that comes in various colors with some form of character imprinted on it. It causes a euphoric rush and increased sense of touch. Ecstasy, also known as MDMA, has no medical use and can produce a high feeling usually within a half-hour. Even though this drug causes a decreased sexual drive, it's often taken with Viagra, which increases the sexual drive. Other symptoms are teeth grinding, nausea and blurred vision.
