Three to speak at Westminster lectures



NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College is offering three separate lectures May 6.
Ron Freeman, a retired commander of the investigations branch of the Major Crimes Unit of the Pittsburgh police, will speak at 4 p.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center Theater.
Freeman, who teaches forensics seminars at LaRoche College, Duquesne University, Point Park College and the University of Pittsburgh, will offer insights into evidence collection, preserving and reconstructing the crime scene, the link to the interrogation process and associated topics.
Dr. David Orr, son of former Westminster College President Will Orr (1949-67), will speak at 6 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall located in the Hoyt Science Resources Center. His talk, "The Last Refuge: Patriotism, Politics and the Environment in an Age of Terror," will include issues raised in his latest book, "The Last Refuge," where he describes his views of the current state of American politics.
Dr. Robert Thorne, professor of physics at Cornell University, is the Westminster College Woods Lecturer at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall in Hoyt Science Resources Center. Thorne will speak about "Collisions! From Mass Extinctions to the Assassination of JFK."
