Play will mark desegregation decision

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University and the city schools will sponsor a free debut presentation of an original musical-drama about the U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus.
"Make It Right," written by Warren native and former YSU drama major Rozz Chapman, will detail the court's decision against segregation in public schools, with scenes that portray historic figures in the case, humor, dancing and lots of music, which includes blues, jazz, gospel and a mixture of other forms. The production has a cast of more than 40.
The play will also be presented at 7 p.m. May 17 (the actual date that the court's decision was rendered 50 years ago) at the Youngstown Playhouse.
Seating for the play's performance at YSU will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free.
