Crash on Route 224 in Boardman involves 10 cars, no bad injuries
BOARDMAN -- Ten cars were involved in a series of crashes that began at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 224, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield post.
Beginning with No. 1 car, driven by Alan Clark Jr., 31, of Hubbard, the sequence went like this:
Clark was eastbound on 224 in the right lane when his vehicle struck No. 2 car in the rear. Clark's car then struck No. 3 car in the rear. No. 2 car spun out of control and struck No. 4, which then hit No. 5 car. No. 6 car swerved to avoid No. 2 car and, in doing so, hit No. 7, which was westbound on 224.
The impact forced No. 7 car into the right lane, where it was hit from behind by No. 8.
Off the road
No. 3 car went off the right side of the road and came to rest in a grassy area on the southwest corner of 224 and South Avenue. Clark's car went off the right side of the road, struck a small tree and continued onto South Avenue, where it hit No. 9 car on the driver's side. The impact forced No. 9 car into the driver's side of No. 10. Both No. 9 and No. 10 were northbound on South Avenue at the time.
No major injuries were reported. No charges were filed. The 10-car pileup remains under investigation, the patrol said.2
