Wilson raps 19 hits in 18-7 triumph

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Woodrow Wilson High baseball team had 19 hits in an 18-7 win over Youngstown Christian at Pemberton-Donnell Park on Monday.
The Redmen (2-7) scored five runs in the first inning, seven in third and sixth in the fourth as they handed the Eagles their first loss in six outings.
Every player in the Wilson lineup had at least one hit. Bryant Bailey hit a double and three singles, drove in three runs and scored three times.
Winning pitcher Chris Truman (1-2) and Thomas Mulligan each had three singles.
Patrick Bader, the losing pitcher, and Mike Pecchia each had two singles for Youngstown Christian.
Chaney 17, Rayen 2
YOUNGSTOWN -- Eric Franklin had a homer and three RBIs and Jeff Shaffo also homered for Chaney in a City Series game.
Lou Kopachy had two doubles and four RBIs for the Cowboys (10-2, 3-0) while Brian Kopachy added a triple and four RBIs. Every batter in the starting lineup got a hit for Chaney.
Rayen fell to 0-9, 0-3.
Mooney 14, Warren JFK 9
STRUTHERS -- Jeff Hehr had three hits and Kevin Drummond and Brian Meenachan each had two hits for the Cardinals (5-8, 2-2 Steel Valley Conference).
Tony Brunetti scored three runs for the Cardinals, who used a six-run third to go in front 8-3.
Springfield 16, Lowellville 5
LOWELLVILLE -- Melio Rios hit a pair of triples and a single and Brad Adams hit a double and two singles for the Tigers (7-4, 5-2) in the Inter-County League game.
Justin Sochie hit a home run for the Rockets (0-10, 0-5).
Jackson-Milton 8, Mineral Ridge 1
NORTH JACKSON -- Steve Bowles retired the first 15 batters he faced and finished with a three-hitter to lead Jackson-Milton (3-10, 2-5 ICL).
Tim Shaw, who doubled, and Matt Shields had two hits and two runs apiece for the Bluejays. Brent Hagaman also doubled and Zack Tomaino scored twice.
Tom Desmond's double in the sixth inning was the first hit for Mineral Ridge (4-5, 4-2).
Leetonia 5, Southern 3
LEETONIA -- Kyle Gruszecki (2-2) threw a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk for the Bears (6-8, 4-6) in a Tri-County League game.
Kurt Williams doubled and Cody Tittle and Anthony Danko each had three hits for Leetonia.
Nick Tanner tripled for the Indians (8-7, 3-6).
Mathews 8, Bristol 0
BRISTOL -- Mathews pitcher Ben Mackall struck out seven and walked five in a complete game three-hitter as the Mustangs won a Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
Mackall (2-0) also had two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs (8-3, 5-2) and Drew Turner added two RBIs. Paul Belany had a double.
