Cardinal Mooney shuts out JFK



Chaney's Rachel Miller was 3-for-4 with a triple against Rayen.
WARREN -- Freshman Mimi Vitello and Dana Palazzo each singled two times to help Cardinal Mooney High beat Warren Kennedy 6-0 in a Steel Valley Conference softball game Monday.
Gina Brunetti doubled, Vitello added an RBI and a run scored and Petrina Morocco (4-0) threw a four-hitter for the Cardinals (13-5, 2-2).
The Eagles are 3-9, 0-2.
West Branch 7, Ursuline 5
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Warriors scored four unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to wipe out a 5-3 Irish lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Courtney Davidson hit a two-out, two-run triple to put the Irish up 4-3.
Ursuline (12-3) has lost three of its last five after starting the year 10-0.
Bri Benedict, Allison Edie and Vana Morgan doubled for the Warriors (7-9). Davidson and Vannessa Dickson each had two hits for Ursuline.
Chaney 12, Rayen 4
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rachel Miller was 3-for-4 with a triple and Terra Koontz went 3-for-4 with five RBIs for Chaney (5-6, 3-0) in a City Series game.
Kristen Bielik added three hits and Mary Wheland had two hits, including a double, for the Cowgirls.
Boardman 4, Canton McKinley 0
BOARDMAN -- Krysta Sylvester had two hits, including a double, and an RBI and Mallory Hay added two hits and two RBIs for Boardman in a Federal League game.
Ashley DiDomenico (10-1) struck out eight and walked one to get the win for the Spartans (12-1, 5-0). Holly Holman added a double.
Hubbard 7, Liberty 2
LIBERTY -- Amanda Taylor (9-2) pitched a complete game as she scattered six hits and struck out eight for Hubbard in the Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Kelly Hudy hit a home run, double, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Eagles (9-2, 7-1).
Michelle Dykes hit three singles for the Leopards (2-8, 1-5).
Champion 4, Lakeview 3
CHAMPION -- The Golden Flashes (10-3, 7-1) scored all their runs in the first two innings, then held on to edge the Bulldogs (5-5, 4-4).
Sophomore Jaclyn Carpenter (4-1), scattered five hits and struck out seven to pick up the win.
She also hit a double and single and scored twice, while teammate Kasey Karr hit a double, single, drove in three runs and scored once.
