NEW YORK -- Pedro Martinez pitched seven innings and Manny Ramirez hit a two-run homer as Boston swept New York for the first time since Sept. 10-12, 1999. Martinez (3-1) allowed four hits and struck out seven. Scott Williamson finished with two hitless innings for his first save. Javier Vazquez (2-2), pitching on three days' rest, gave up four hits and struck out eight in six innings. Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and extended his hitless streak to a career-high 25 at-bats.
Blue Jays 15, Orioles 3
BALTIMORE -- Roy Halladay (2-3) cruised to an easy victory, Chris Woodward had a career-high four hits and Toronto won consecutive games for the first time this season. Carlos Delgado and Eric Hinske each had three RBIs, and Vernon Wells and Woodward drove in two runs apiece for the Blue Jays, who roughed up Sidney Ponson (2-1). Orioles first baseman Rafael Palmeiro drove in two runs and has 1,703 career RBIs, moving him past Reggie Jackson and into 17th place on the career list.
Rangers 14, Mariners 6
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Laynce Nix, Rod Barajas and rookie Adrian Gonzalez hit consecutive homers in the sixth inning to match a team record, and Texas handed Seattle its fifth straight loss. Nix also hit a leadoff homer in the fourth and had a career-high five RBIs, Kevin Mench had a homer and a triple among his career-best four hits and tied a team record with five runs scored. John Wasdin pitched 42/3 innings in his first start since last July. Carlos Almanzar (2-0) was awarded the decision with 22/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball.
Twins 4, Royals 2
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Torii Hunter hit a three-run homer for Minnesota in his first game since coming off the disabled list. Hunter, in the lineup as the designated hitter, was out since April 7 with a strained right hamstring. In his second at-bat, he homered off Brian Anderson (1-1) to cap the Twins' four-run third. Joe Nathan got out of a bases loaded jam to finish for his sixth save.
White Sox 6, Devil Rays 5
CHICAGO -- Juan Uribe drew a bases-loaded walk from Lance Carter, capping a three-run rally in the ninth inning that gave Chicago its third win in four games. Pinch-hitter Kelly Dransfeldt tied it with a two-out RBI single off Trever Miller (0-1). Uribe and Paul Konerko homered for the White Sox. Aubrey Huff and Toby Hall hit home runs for Tampa Bay.
Angels 4, Athletics 3
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Tim Salmon broke out of a slump in a big way, hitting a three-run homer to help Anaheim complete a three-game sweep of Oakland. Salmon, hitless in his previous 13 at-bats, connected against Rich Harden (0-2) in the sixth to give the Angels a 4-2 lead. The Athletics were swept at home for the first time since May 2002, a span of 49 series. Ramon Ortiz (1-2) pitched five innings in his best outing of the season before turning the game over to the bullpen.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cubs 4, Mets 1
CHICAGO -- Matt Clement took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and struck out a career-high 13, leading Chicago to its sixth straight victory. Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run homer, and Michael Barrett and Corey Patterson each drove in a run to back Clement (3-1). The Cubs completed a three-game sweep and have outscored their opponents 39-5 during their six-game winning streak.
Rockies 4, Astros 1
DENVER -- Vinny Castilla set a franchise record with an RBI in his 10th straight game, Joe Kennedy pitched into the seventh inning to remain unbeaten and Colorado avoided a three-game sweep. Kennedy (3-0) allowed a run and five hits in 61/3 innings. Shawn Chacon pitched the ninth for his fourth save. Mark Sweeney hit his first home run since June 13 for the Rockies.
Expos 2, Phillies 0
MONTREAL -- Zach Day and Rocky Biddle combined for Montreal's second shutout, and Matt Cepicky hit a two-run double in the sixth to send the Expos to their first win at Olympic Stadium this season. Day (2-1) scattered nine hits through eight innings. Biddle finished with a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
Cardinals 5, Brewers 2
MILWAUKEE -- Albert Pujols and Jim Edmonds hit consecutive home runs in the first inning, and Jeff Suppan gave up three hits in 72/3 innings for St. Louis. Reggie Sanders added his seventh homer, and Suppan (2-2) took a shutout into the eighth before giving up a solo shot to pinch-hitter Keith Ginter.
Dodgers 9, Giants 0
LOS ANGELES -- Kazuhisa Ishii pitched a four-hitter for his first shutout, Milton Bradley homered twice and Los Angeles won for the eighth time in 11 games. Bradley hit a pair of solo shots for the first multi-homer game of his career. Alex Cora and Cesar Izturis also connected for the Dodgers.
Diamondbacks 12, Padres 7
PHOENIX -- Richie Sexson homered twice and drove in three runs for Arizona. Matt Kata drove in four runs with a pair of singles, and Luis Gonzalez and Danny Bautista had two-run doubles for the Diamondbacks.
Braves 7, Marlins 2
MIAMI -- Mark DeRosa homered for the first earned run off Dontrelle Willis this season, and J.D. Drew's bases-loaded triple off Tommy Phelps broke a tie in the seventh inning. DeRosa also had three RBIs, scored twice and went 3-for-4.
