STATE GRANTS
Environmental education
The state Department of Environmental Protection has awarded three local environmental education grants. The grants were among 60 totaling more than $318,000 awarded across the state. The local recipients are:
Mercer County Conservation District: $9,825 for Munnell Run Farm, which serves as a setting for special-needs pupils to learn about agriculture and the environment.
Lawrence County Conservation District: $10,000 to form a partnership with Environmental Concepts to offer environmental education to scout leaders.
Shenango Area School District: $14,914 to include the environmental and ecology standards in its curriculum.
