Man faces several charges after police chase, crash

The driver of the other car was seriously injured and taken to St. E's.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 33-year-old city man is charged with child endangering, driving under suspension and failure to comply after leading police on a high-speed chase Saturday afternoon.
The chase ended when Desmond Redding of Portland Avenue ran his car into another vehicle pulling onto Market Street from a Marathon gas station, seriously injuring the driver of the other car and causing massive damage to both cars, police said.
Redding is charged with endangering children because his three young children were in the car. The children were treated at the scene by emergency medical technicians and turned over to their mother.
Police said the other driver, Bryneil Brown, 18, of West Chalmers Avenue, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
Other passengers in Brown's car left the scene before they could be identified, police said.
Spotted by police
The chase began when police observed Redding driving a convertible eastbound on Sherwood Avenue with loud music. When Redding turned onto Princeton Avenue and police approached him, he fled at high speed with police in pursuit. Redding ran stop signs at Princeton and Oakhill Avenue before heading north on Market, police said.
After the crash, Redding fled on foot through several empty lots and escaped. Through a tip, police found Redding on the roof of a structure at 46 W. Princeton, where he was arrested.
