Fire wins 1-0 on Ralph's goal

WASHINGTON (AP)-- Damani Ralph scored Chicago's first goal of the season on Freddy Adu bobblehead doll day to lift the Fire to a 1-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday.
Chicago (1-1-2) opened the season with 327 scoreless minutes, coming within 30 minutes of matching the MLS record held by the 1999 Kansas City Wizards.
The 14-year-old Adu didn't enter the game until the 72nd minute, the least he has played in any of United's four games this season.
However, Adu, who scored his first MLS goal last Saturday in New York, showed that he's capable of making a lot happen in a little time.
He was given the first yellow card of his career in the 76th minute when he snatched hold Andy Williams' jersey.
Adu had a chance to tie the game in the 87th minute when he softly controlled a pass from Ryan Nelsen with his left foot, and then shot it over the bar.
Ralph made a clever run through the United defense to score the only goal in the 57th minute, beating Nick Rimando with a low shot to the left corner.
