Campbell cruises past Struthers



STRUTHERS -- Senior Matt Stankich had two singles and scored three times to lead the Campbell Memorial High baseball team to an 8-4 victory Friday over Struthers.
The Red Devils have won five in a row.
Each team had 10 hits in the game at Cene Park.
Mark Such had two singles and three RBIs while Antoni T. Zembillas had two singles and two RBIs for the Red Devils (9-3). Stan Gozur (2-2) got the victory. Such, Zembillas and Gozur also are seniors.
Frank Speziale had two singles and two RBIs while Steve Stenglein had two singles and an RBI for Struthers (3-9).
Campbell plays at Howland today at 1 p.m.
Girard 2, Lakeview 1
GIRARD -- Tommy Williams and Matt Zuppo scored both of Girard's runs in the bottom of the seventh after trailing for the entire game at Tod Park.
With one out, Williams lined a pitch to left field followed by Zuppo's hit to the fence that scored Williams on an overthrow at home plate.
On the same play, an attempt to get Zuppo at third base resulted in another overthrow which allowed Zuppo to came across with the game-winner.
Mike Holmes, a senior, got the victory in his first pitching start. Holmes, who played sparingly since his return from a broken wrist injury, struck out four and walked three over seven innings.
