Browns make trade to get Georgia safety
COMBINED DISPATCHES
BEREA -- After giving up their second-round pick for Kellen Winslow, the Cleveland Browns traded back into the second round and nabbed Georgia safety Sean Jones at No. 59. The Browns dealt their third-round (No. 68), fifth-round (No. 141) and sixth-round (No. 173) selections to Indianapolis to get Jones.
The Colts also gave Cleveland a fifth-round pick (No. 161).
Jones, a hard-hitting tackler with excellent leaping ability, was a standout performer on special teams who proved to be invaluable in the Bulldogs secondary, playing free safety, strong safety and rover during his career.
His 10 interceptions ranked 10th on the school's career-record list and he had four blocked kicks, setting a school record.
Jones, from Atlanta, was a USA Today honorable mention All-American. He played quarterback in high school, passing for over 2,400 yards and 31 touchdowns in his senior season.
