Aeros win 11-2 on Cooper's 3-run home run



AKRON (AP) -- Jason Cooper hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Akron Aeros the lead in an 11-2 win over the New Britain Rock Cats on Saturday in the Eastern League.
Cooper's second homer of the season put Akron ahead 4-2. Corey Smith hit a two-run homer and Oscar Salazar followed with a solo shot in the seventh, when the Aeros scored seven times.
Akron starter Francisco Cruceta (2-1) allowed two runs -- one earned -- on five hits with one walk and one strikeout in seven innings.
Henry Bonilla (1-2) gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings for New Britain. Jonathan Pridie was touched for six runs in the seventh while only getting two outs.
Akron took the lead in the first when Scott Pratt, who finished 3-for-5 with three runs, led off with a triple and scored on Zach Sorensen's sacrifice fly.
