April 15
Arrest: Police arrested a 43-year-old Youngstown man at the Mahoning County jail on two counts of passing bad checks. An employee at X-Press Stop Center, 7100 Lockwood Blvd., said the business was the victim of a bad check.
Breaking and entering: The owner of a vacant home in the 5000 block of South Avenue found someone had entered it.
Criminal mischief: An employee at Stadium Volkswagen, 7850 Market St., reported someone had broken an entryway door window, causing about $2,200 in damage.
Burglary: A man reported someone broke into his residence in the 10 block of South Cadillac Drive through a basement window and took two leather coats and $1,800 in cash.
Bad check: Someone passed and had cashed an $850 bad check at First Place Bank, 3900 Market St.
Theft: An employee at Heaven on Earth Christian Bookstore, 8381 Market St., reported a $1,400 deposit stolen from an office.
Theft: Police arrested a 50-year-old Youngstown woman on a theft charge after three cartons of cigarettes were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A Struthers man found four aluminum wheel lug nut covers missing from his vehicle parked at the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Three Warren women, two age 20 and one 19, were charged with felony theft after $851 worth of merchandise was stolen from Wal-Mart. A Warren girl, 17, faced a misdemeanor theft charge.
Criminal damage: A man in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle found various parts of his car damaged while he was at a residence in the 4500 block of Euclid Boulevard.
Bad check: Someone wrote and passed a $40 bad check at Salty Grogs, 1203 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft/attempted thefts: Police were told someone attempted to steal several vehicles in the 700 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, and that a $150 CD player and a car radio had been stolen.
Domestic violence: A 36-year-old Boardman man was arrested near Bristlewood Drive and U.S. Route 224 on a domestic-violence charge after a woman in the 60 block of Wildwood Drive reported being a victim. She complained of head and neck pain.
April 16
Vandalism: An employee at Splash & amp; Shine Auto Bath Inc., 2045 Country Club Ave., reported someone tried to remove change from a coin machine, causing $700 in damage to the machine.
Theft: A 37-year-old Youngstown man was charged with theft after a $198 DVD-videocassette recorder unit was stolen from Wal-Mart.
Drugs: A New York City man, 28, and a Youngstown man, 40, were arrested at Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd. One was charged with felony drug trafficking (marijuana) and misdemeanor possession of fireworks; the other man faced charges of felony trafficking in drugs, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of fireworks, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.
Theft: An 18-year-old Warren woman was charged with theft after a $10 pair of tennis shoes was stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Someone took five bottles of perfume from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Salem woman reported a $50 cellular phone missing while she was in the 5700 block of Market Street.
Recovered property: A 1996 Olds Cutlass Ciera was found abandoned on East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, after a man in the 4100 block of Glenwood Avenue discovered it missing from a parking lot near his home.
Criminal damage: A Canfield woman reported damage to her car while she was in the 800 block of Kentwood Drive.
Theft: Three people left Perkins Family Restaurant, 804 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying food bills that totaled $53.
Arrest: After investigating an assault and criminal damaging report at a home in the 800 block of Kentwood Drive, police arrested a 30-year-old Poland man at St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown. He was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct after police alleged he attacked officers. The assault victim was not injured.
Theft, forgery: An employee at A. James Giannini Inc., 721 Boardman-Poland Road, discovered the business was the victim of three stolen checks that were cashed for $2,242.
Theft: Someone took an undetermined number of packs of razor blades from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Attempted theft: A Boardman woman reported someone tried to break into her vehicle while she was in the 7400 block of West Boulevard. The car had $200 in damage to its driver's-side doorknob.
April 17
Arrests: After discovering an underage party at the Days Inn, 8392 Market St., police arrested seven people, ages 16 to 20. Three were from Madison, Ohio, three from East Palestine and one from New Waterford, and charges included underage possession and consumption of alcohol, obstructing official business and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Criminal damage: An employee at PondScape Ponds, Streams & amp; Waterfalls, 40 Boardman-Poland Road, reported someone placed liquid soap in his front pond, causing $1,000 in damage.
Theft/criminal damage: A woman in the 100 block of Maple Drive reported $1,000 in damage to her car's sunroof, and that a $300 CD player had been removed.
Criminal damage: A man found his car's passenger-side window broken at his residence in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court. Damage was estimated at $175.
Theft: A Petersburg man, 20, was charged with felony theft after an employee at Gamestop, 403 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged a co-worker stole $1,043 from the business by falsifying returns and exchanges and keeping the money.
Theft: A man reported two men's wristwatches, a wedding band and six half-dollars taken from his residence in the 6600 block of Glendale Avenue. The loss was about $2,349.
Theft: An employee at a doctor's office in the 800 block of Kentwood Drive discovered a $125 plastic, collapsible picnic table stolen.
April 18
Vandalism: An employee at PondScape found soap in a landscape pond and pump, which caused about $11,000 worth of damage.
Vandalism: Someone placed soap in a fountain, causing $300 in damage, at American Beauty Landscaping, 5415 South Ave.
Theft: A man in the 800 block of Forestridge Drive reported a $180 in-dash stereo faceplate stolen from his car.
Criminal damage: A man in the 6300 block of South Avenue alleged his former girlfriend damaged his storm door.
Breaking and entering: A man reported someone broke into a carport at his residence in the 6800 block of Southern Boulevard. A $700 mower, two trimmers and a leaf blower were removed.
Criminal damage: A man in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive found several suspicious saw marks on one of his trees. Damage was estimated at about $3,000.
Criminal damage: Someone did $400 in damage to a double-pane sliding-glass patio door and window at an apartment in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Attempted burglary: A man in the 3900 block of Windsor Road discovered someone tried to pry open his back door, damaging its frame and knob.
Domestic violence: A Campbell man, 54, was arrested at Miller Rod & amp; Gun, 5140 Youngstown-Poland Road, on a domestic-violence charge. A woman in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue reported being a victim, but she was not injured.
Arrests: After investigating a matter related to a traffic stop near Market Street and Indianola Road, police arrested a Boardman boy, 16; a Boardman man, 24; and a Hubbard man, 20. One man was charged with assault; the boy and the other man faced charges of underage possession of alcohol; and one was charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police say they found two full beer cans as well as two opened ones in the car.
April 19
Arrests: While serving a warrant on a woman at a residence in the 300 block of Argyle Avenue, police arrested a 34-year-old Boardman man at the home and charged him with obstructing official business. The 25-year-old woman was arrested on the warrant charging her with assault. A Youngstown woman reported being assaulted at Subway, 1304 Boardman-Poland Road, and she had several minor injuries.
Vandalism: Someone damaged the interior of Ohio Eye Associates Inc., 8110 Market St., as well as some contents. Damage was estimated at $40,000.
Arrest: Police arrested a 46-year-old Youngstown man at Bank One, 380 Boardman-Canfield Road, and charged him with one count each of felony receiving stolen property and forgery, as well as one count of misdemeanor obstructing official business. Police alleged the man signed a withdrawal slip and fraudulently presented his brother's identity to obtain money from the brother's account, and that he had stolen checks in his possession.
Breaking and entering: A woman in the 7900 block of Southern Boulevard found her storage shed broken into. Fifteen handbags, two leather coats and miscellaneous jewelry were taken.
Theft: Someone left Home Depot without paying for a took kit and power drill worth about $499.
Theft: Police arrested a 33-year-old Youngstown man in the 7300 block of Market Street on a theft charge after five DVD video games and four articles of clothing were stolen from Sears.
Theft: Police arrested two Boardman girls, 16 and 17, on theft charges after four pairs of sunglasses, two belts, a shirt, a dress top, a sweater, two T-shirts and a wallet were stolen from Kohl's, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Burglary: A man in the 100 block of Caribou Drive discovered someone forced open his rear garage door and back door. A $750 camcorder, a $1,000 camera and lens, a DVD player, a suitcase and numerous other items were stolen.
Attempted burglary: A woman found a cover over her basement window broken at her residence in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.
Theft: A man reported his son's car's temporary tag missing from the vehicle at their residence in the 500 block of Forestridge Drive.
Theft: A 22-year-old Youngstown woman faced a theft charge after a pair of shorts, a top and two shirts were stolen from Kohl's. Estimated value of the loss was $112.
Drugs: After a traffic stop, a 21-year-old Youngstown man was arrested at Camelot Lanes, 628 Boardman-Canfield Road, on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
April 20
Attempted theft: A 44-year-old Youngstown woman was charged with attempted theft after an employee at a New Middletown business discovered someone misused a credit card to buy a $400 nailer device at Home Depot.
Theft: Police arrested a 31-year-old Lisbon woman on a theft charge after a shirt and a set of earrings were stolen from Kaufmann's in the Southern Park Mall. She also was charged with obstructing official business after police say she gave a false name.
Theft: A Liberty man, 32, was charged with theft after two packs of cigarettes were stolen from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A 16-year-old Howland boy faced a theft charge after a $32 T-shirt was taken from Kaufmann's.
Arrest: After investigating a report of a possible rape at the Residence Inn, 7396 Tiffany Blvd., police charged a 54-year-old Orion, Mich., man with attempted rape, tampering with evidence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The victim suffered several injuries.
Criminal damage: A man discovered two vehicles parked in the 600 block of McClurg Road had been damaged. One car had damage to its front window and mirror and the other's headlights and taillights were damaged.
Theft: Someone stole $500 in cash from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Theft: An Austintown woman, 44, was charged with theft after three pairs of shoes and two bottles of tanning lotion were stolen from Kaufmann's.
Theft: Police charged a 40-year-old New Castle, Pa., woman with theft after a Kohl's employee alleged she placed in her purse $154 worth of clothing.
Theft, forgery: A man in the 1200 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive discovered someone obtained a $1,600 check made out to him, forged it and cashed the check at an undetermined Bank One location.
Theft: A Struthers woman reported her Ohio driver's license missing while she was at American General Financial Services, 425 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A woman, 19, no address given, was charged with theft after 12 cans of baby formula valued at $282 were stolen from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. Also, a 24-year-old Boardman woman was charged with theft and obstructing official business and a 21-year-old Canfield man was charged with complicity to theft.
Theft: Police arrested an 18-year-old Columbiana man on a theft charge after a set of trading cards was stolen from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
