Phyllis Miller to represent local club at state event



The club's mother of the year will vie for the state title.
AUSTINTOWN -- Phyllis Miller of Austintown, Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club's Mother of the Year for 2004, will represent the club at the Ohio Federation of Mothers of Multiples State Convention June 25-26 in Cleveland.
Mrs. Miller will compete for the State Mother of the Year title. She received the local award during a banquet at Bobby D's in Youngstown. Past recipients also were honored.
Background
Mrs. Miller and her husband, Michael, are the parents of 11-year-old fraternal triplets, Michael, Scott and Jacob, who are honor-roll students at Frank Ohl Middle School. She and her triplets regularly attend Twins Day held annually in Twinsburg.
Mrs. Miller has belonged to the Youngstown club for 11 years and has held the offices of vice president, recording secretary, corresponding secretary and treasurer along with serving on various committees. She also is active on the state level in the federation.
Mrs. Miller has been a first-grade teacher for 22 years at Joshua Dixon School in Columbiana, is involved in its Parent-Teacher Association and she is a volunteer for Destination Imagination, a state-sponsored program in which her sons participate and recently won first-place medals during an event at Youngstown State University. They will participate in a state competition this summer.
The Miller family attends Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where Mrs. Miller assists with Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes and Vacation Bible School.
The Youngstown club meets at 8 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at Davidson-Becker Family Life Center, 11 Spring St., Struthers. The club was organized in 1948.
