Youngstown State
Felicia Ciotola, a senior at Canfield High School, will continue her golf career at YSU. A three-time All-Metro Athletic Conference selection, Ciotola advanced to the state golf meet as an individual. She carries a 3.5 GPA. YSU's softball program has signed Shauna Barry, an infielder-outfielder from Sherwood, Ore., to a national letter of intent. Barry, who played summer ball for the Oregon Panthers Gold, batted .419 and a slugging percentage of .516. She is the fifth player to sign with the Penguins for 2005, joining McKenzie Bedra, Bethany Hafely, Becky Hibner and Kelli Schebley.
Westminster
Freshman softball player Jennifer Pancake (Boardman) has been named hitter of the week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Pancake, a pitcher/designated hitter, was named PAC pitcher of the week twice earlier this season. Pancake batted .636 (14-for-22) with a home run, two doubles, seven runs scored and six RBIs last week, as Westminster posted a 5-2 record, including 5-1 vs. PAC teams.
Lehigh
George Evans (Boardman) was named the Patriot League's field athlete of the week. Evans won the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the Monmouth Games. He won the 100 with a time of 10.76 seconds and the 200 in 21.32.
Mount Vernon Nazarene
Dave Yost, a senior pitcher for the Poland High baseball team, will continue his career at the NAIA school. Yost, who has a 2-1 record and 1.50 earned run average so far this year, is MVNU's first baseball recruit for 2005. He also has 28 strikeouts and seven walks in 18 innings. A three-year letterman, Yost made the All-Metro Athletic Conference team as a sophomore and junior. He also is a three-year letterman in football and is a member of National Honor Society, Junior Leadership, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in his church youth group.
