NFL ROUNDUP | News and notes

Redskins: Free agent middle linebacker Mike Barrow agreed to terms. Barrow led the Giants in tackles each of the last three seasons, but he was cut last month after he refused to restructure his contract. The 34-year-old linebacker has played for the Houston Oilers, Carolina and the Giants over 11 seasons. Also, linebacker Antonio Pierce was re-signed. Pierce made the team as an un-drafted free agent in 2001 and started eight games as a rookie. He has since played primarily as a reserve and on special teams.
Packers: Free agent Chris Watson, a cornerback and kick-return player, and Paris Lenon, a linebacker and restricted free agent, were signed. Watson was with Detroit last season, where he worked with new Packers defensive backs coach Kurt Schottenheimer, then the Lions defensive coordinator. Watson spent his first three seasons with Buffalo after being traded from the Denver Broncos, who drafted him in the third round in 1999 out of Eastern Illinois. Watson has 110 tackles, two interceptions, 23 passes broken up and 25 special teams stops. He has a 21.9-yard average on 97 kickoff returns and a 6.5-yard average on 77 punt returns. Lenon is a backup linebacker and plays on special teams.
Panthers: Defensive back Terrance Shaw was signed, adding depth to Carolina's secondary. The 31-year-old Shaw played the past two seasons for Oakland as a reserve cornerback. He had 70 tackles in 15 games in 2003. Shaw is expected to figure into a mix at cornerback that includes Ricky Manning Jr., Dante Wesley and Artrell Hawkins. Carolina lost starter Reggie Howard to the Miami Dolphins via free agency.
Bills: Quarterback Travis Brown was re-signed. He spent the last three years as the Bills third-stringer, but missed most of last season because of a dislocated finger on his throwing hand injured during a preseason game. Brown was released by Buffalo in September after reaching an injury settlement, but then re-signed with the team in December. He made two appearances last season, going 14-of-18 for 160 yards passing, with no touchdowns and one interception.
