3rd man arrested in Sharon theft

SHARON, Pa. -- Police have arrested a third man in the theft of $22,000 from a disabled 50-year-old Sterling Avenue man.
Brian J. Harris, 20, of Second Avenue, was arrested at his home Wednesday on charges of criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.
He was arraigned before District Justice James McMahon on Thursday and held in Mercer County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Police said he and Edward Chacon, 29, of South Jackson Street, Youngstown, and Samuel J. Beers, 18, of Diamond Street, Masury, are charged with stealing the money between September and October 2003.
The scheme involved one of the group pretending to be an investment attorney who spoke with the victim on the telephone and persuaded him to write checks for investments and legal services, police said.
The checks were cashed and the money spent by the three suspects, police said.
Chacon and Beers were arrested in October and pleaded guilty in the case, police said, adding that they only recently learned Harris' identity.
