Upcoming Hoyt classes
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Register by April 30 for the next session of classes at Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave. Offerings include one- to three-day workshops in large-scale clay throwing; shibori, a Japanese tie-dyeing technique; quilting; and figure painting. Other options include lectures on photographic history and interpretation as well as eight-week classes in drawing, cartooning, landscape painting and languages. Poet wins state grant
POLAND -- Poet Nathalie Andrews has received a $5,000 grant from the Ohio Arts Council. In all, 66 people received Individual Artist Fellowships from OAC, a state agency that awards money to artists based on talent and quality of work. Andrews said the money will enable her to devote more time to research and writing. Her most recent poetry collection is titled "Any Kind of Excuse."
Circus back in Struthers
STRUTHERS -- Circus Aut Mori will return this year to Struthers Fieldhouse. The annual Aut Mori Grotto circus had been moved to Canfield Fairgrounds while the Struthers facility was being renovated. Seven performances are planned from July 23 to 25. Tickets will go on sale in June.
