Philippi's hits power Wilson



Campbell defeated Chaney and Poland won a MAC contest with Struthers.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Marcus Philippi drove in two runs with a single and a double Wednesday to lead Woodrow Wilson High to a 9-3 victory over The Rayen School at Oakland Field .
Andre Fiqueroa and Bryant Bailey also added two hits with a double for the Redmen (1-8, 1-1 City Series).
Thomas Mulligan was the winning pitcher, scattering six hits.
Troy Rice had a double for the Tigers (0-8, 0-2).
Campbell 9, Mooney 5
CAMPBELL -- Matt Stankich had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs to lead Campbell.
Anthony T. Zembillas added a double for the Red Devils (7-3), while Mark Such had two hits. Lonnie McQueen went the distance to pick up the win. Kyle McCarthy and Jeff Hehr each had two hits for Mooney. One of Hehr's hits was a double.
Poland 5, Struthers 1
POLAND -- Adam Wigley (1-0) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out nine.
Dom Marchionda singled twice and Chris Aracich had a single, a double and two RBIs for Poland (5-4, 3-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
Jackson-Milton 13, Lowellville 1
LOWELLVILLE -- Steve Bowles pitched a three-hitter, while Matt Shields had a double and single, and Zack Kosa and Mark Gibbs two singles each to lead Jackson-Milton.
Leetonia 8, East Palestine 7
LEETONIA -- Jay Fiehler's single drove in Kyle Gruszecki with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for Leetonia (5-7, 3-5 Tri-County League).
Gruszecki reached first on a single and advanced to second on a fielder's choice before scoring on Fiehler's single. Gruszecki finished with a double, two singles and three RBIs.
Cody Tittle and Anthony Danko each had a double and single, and Kurt Williams two singles to aid Leetonia.
Tom Johnson slugged a two-run homer and double for East Palestine (1-11, 1-7), while Nick Henry added a double and single.
Alliance 15, W. Branch 2
ALLIANCE -- Dustin McCrea homered and doubled, and Brandon Gordon homered for the Aviators (9-3).
Andy Todor had a single, a double and an RBI, and Jon Orlando singled twice for the Warriors (6-6).
