HER BASES-LOADED DOUBLE KEPT BOARDMAN UNDEFEATED.



Her bases-loaded double kept Boardman undefeated.
BOARDMAN -- Melanie Lodyn hit a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally the Boardman High softball team past Canfield 7-6 Wednesday at Fields of Dreams.
The Spartans trailed 6-5 with one out when Lodyn's hit drove home two runs, making a winner out of pitcher Ashley DiDomenico (7-0), who relieved Lodyn.
Jaclyn Corroto had two singles, two runs scored and had one RBI for the Spartans (9-0) while Meagan Cunningham added two singles and two RBIs.
Lodyn finished with two doubles and two RBIs, and Holly Holman had two singles, an RBI and a run scored.
For Canfield (6-4), Nikki Garrett had two singles, two runs scored and an RBI. The Cardinals led 6-2 after 41/2 innings. Whitney Zunic took the loss.
Ursuline 6, Chaney 3
YOUNGSTOWN -- Courtney Davidson homered and Alessandra Parry doubled twice for the Irish (12-2).
Winning pitcher Maureen Cearfoss (11-2), Staci Ziobert and Natalie Palermo each had two hits.
Victoria Earp had a single and a double, and Kristen Bielik doubled for Chaney (4-3).
Poland 8, Fitch 1
POLAND -- Pitcher Mallory Conger and fifth-inning reliever Jenna Susany combined to pitch a four-hitter for Poland (11-1).
Kari Thompson had three singles to key the Bulldogs' attack.
Howland 3, Struthers 2
STRUTHERS -- Desiree Siebera and Rachel Albani doubled to lead the Tigers in the Metro Athletic Conference game.
The Wildcats (2-8, 1-4) had more hits (6-4) but could only score once in the second and sixth innings.
Niles 3, McDonald 0
NILES -- Shannon Floyd doubled and Ashley Byrom had two hits for the Red Dragons (4-5).
McDonald was held to three singles by Byrom (2-3).
Champion 13, Brookfield 0
BROOKFIELD -- Jaclyn Carpenter, Emily Hayes and Alyshia Brink doubled for the Golden Flashes (8-3, 5-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Champion took a 5-0 lead in the second inning, then scored six times in the fourth.
The Warriors are 4-7.
