SOFTBALL Spartans shut out GlenOak



BOARDMAN -- Ashley DiDomenico faced two batters over the minimum Tuesday as the Boardman High softball team took over sole possession of first place in the Federal League with a 6-0 victory over Canton GlenOak.
DiDomenico improved to 6-0 as she allowed four hits, with five strikeouts and no walks. She also added two singles and an RBI.
Also for the Spartans (8-0, 3-0), Danielle Burin had two singles and two runs scored; Jaclyn Corroto had two singles, two RBIs and a run scored; and Mallory Hay had two singles and two RBIs.
Canfield 11, Chaney 0
CANFIELD -- Whitney Zunic pitched a one-hitter and collected three hits, including a pair of doubles.
Ginny Naples added three singles, and Nikki Garrett had a double for the Cardinals (6-3). Chaney is 3-5.
Southern 15, Wilson 1
SALINEVILLE -- Britnie Lutz pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts, while Chelsee Anderson delivered a double, single and two RBIs, to power Southern (1-9), which rapped 14 hits.
Alliance 6, Salem 5
SALEM -- Krista Pascoe had two singles and two RBIs while Brittany Witham and Amber Saunders each added two singles to lead the Aviators. Pascoe gained the mound win with relief aid from Mandy Starks.
Stephanie Szabat and Julie Barrett each had a double and single to lead Salem (2-10).
Northwest 4, West Branch 0
CANAL FULTON -- Christine Bills (6-3) threw a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts for Northwest (7-4, 3-2 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Bri Benedict went 2-for-3 for the Warriors (4-7, 1-5).
