VINDICATOR NEW CASTLE BUREAU
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County officials can now start interviewing some of the more than 25 applicants for a newly created fiscal administrator position.
The county salary board formally agreed to create the position during its meeting Tuesday morning. The job will pay $35,000 to $40,000 annually.
County Controller Maryann Reiter voted against creating the position, contending the controller's office is the county's fiscal department.
But the three county commissioners, Dan Vogler, Steve Craig and Ed Fosnaught, disagreed. They believe Charleen Micco, the county's chief clerk/administrator, needs someone to help her with daily fiscal duties and help develop yearly budgets.
Vogler said the county has been running advertisements in newspapers for the job and will now start interviewing the qualified candidates.
He said he hopes to have someone hired in the next six to eight weeks.
