Turocy homers, doubles for Canfield



CANFIELD -- Frank Turocy hit a home run and a double, and drove in three runs to lead a 16-hit attack for the Canfield High baseball team in an 11-2 victory over Howland Monday in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Rick Banna hit two singles and drove in four runs for the Cardinals (11-2, 3-0 MAC).
Chad Baker (2-0) worked six innings for Canfield. He allowed two hits and struck out eight.
Alliance 8, Salem 7
SALEM -- The Aviators (7-3, 4-0 MAC) broke a 6-6 tie by scoring the go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Dustin McCrea hit a home run for Alliance. Grant Sevek tripled for Salem (7-3, 1-3).
Poland 17, Struthers 2
STRUTHERS -- The Bulldogs scored six runs in the third inning and finished it off with 10 more in the fifth. Mike White singled twice and drove in three runs.
Jon Brauer hit a triple and double, and drove in two runs and scored three times for Poland (4-4).
Frank Speziale tripled home both of the Wildcats' (1-8, 0-6) runs in the second inning.
Champion 11, Girard 0
CHAMPION -- The Golden Flashes (5-3) broke open the Trumbull Athletic Conference game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 8-0 lead.
Mike Harrison hit a double and single and scored twice for Champion.
Ryan Collins hit a pair of singles for the Indians (1-2).
Newton Falls 4, Hubbard 1
NEWTON FALLS -- Nick Bjelac doubled and five teammates each had a single for the Tigers (7-1, 5-0 TAC).
The Eagles (0-5, 0-5) pushed across a run in the seventh inning to avert a shutout.
LaBrae 12, Liberty 11
LEAVITTSBURG -- After tying the game, the Vikings (5-1, 3-1 TAC) scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Dan Mohler had a homer and a double, Randy Burgett homered and Aaron Pollack tripled for the Leopards (0-4, 0-4 TAC).
