Teen sentenced to prisonin attack on rapper's mom
PONTIAC, Mich. -- A 16-year-old boy was sentenced to more than four years in prison Monday for dragging Eminem's mother from her car on the street made famous by the rapper's movie "8 Mile."
James Antonio Knott also was ordered to pay $3,473 in restitution to Debbie Nelson, who suffered bruises and a broken foot. The teen earlier pleaded guilty to carjacking and armed robbery charges in the Jan. 22 attack. Nelson, 49, has said she thinks the boy should be punished, but that her "main concern is that he's rehabilitated and won't do this again." She declined to comment at Monday's hearing, where Knott was sentenced to at least four years and three months in prison.
Spacey offers apologiesover his report to police
LONDON -- Kevin Spacey apologized for confusion arising from his report to police that he'd been mugged. The Oscar-winning actor made, then retracted, the complaint after a weekend encounter in a London park that left him dazed and bleeding. The Daily Mirror newspaper reported that Spacey had been "brutally mugged" in a south London park at 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Spacey told British Broadcasting Corp. radio Monday that the truth was less dramatic. He said he was walking his dog when a young man approached him with "some sob story about somebody needing to call their mother and could they use my phone.
"It was such a good con, that I actually dialed the number myself and when somebody answered I then finally handed [over] my phone," said Spacey, who won Academy Awards for his roles in 1995's "The Usual Suspects" and 1999's "American Beauty."
"And this kid took off and I was so upset I ran after him."
Spacey said he had reported the incident to police, but went back a few hours later to clarify his story.
J.Lo attends LA premiereto support new boyfriend
LOS ANGELES -- After a respite from the spotlight after her recent split with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez has returned to center stage, turning out to support her reported new boyfriend, Latin singer Marc Anthony, at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest movie, reports Hello! magazine. Looking glam but coy in a nude-toned dress and high heels, J.Lo joined Anthony and his fellow "Man On Fire" stars Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken at the Mann National Theatre. But Lopez, who was romantically linked to the singer-turned-actor five years ago, arrived alone on the red carpet, leaving Anthony to soak up the limelight with his co-stars. The romance isn't without controversy. In March, Anthony quashed rumors that his rediscovered friendship was behind his split with his wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres.
