Guilty of charges , man goes to jail

STRUTHERS -- Robert J. Greenwalt III, 24, of John Street, began serving four 180-day sentences in the Mahoning County Justice Center on Monday after Judge James R. Lanzo found him guilty of domestic violence and assault.
Greenwalt pleaded no contest to the charges in municipal court Friday. The sentences will run concurrently.
On the domestic-violence charge, Judge Lanzo fined Greenwalt $250 plus court costs and sentenced him to 180 days in jail, to be served concurrently with sentences for three charges of assault.
The three assault charges were amended from felony charges of assaulting police officers. He was fined $200 plus court costs and sentenced to 180 days in jail on each of the assault charges.
Charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest were dismissed with Greenwalt held responsible for court costs.
All of the charges against him stem from a situation at his home April 11 in which he struck his 2-week-old son in the head with candy that he threw during an argument with the child's mother, and then assaulted officers after they asked him to step out of the house.
