Two candidates are seeking the Democratic nomination for the 4th Congressional District, which includes Beaver, Lawrence and parts of Butler, Mercer and Allegheny counties. The winner will face incumbent Republican Melissa Hart in the fall.

Employment: Retired police officer, part-time instructor at the Community College of Beaver County, and laid-off U.S. Airways flight attendant.
Education: Aliquippa High School and the Community College of Beaver County.
Family: Daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Joseph Kowalski; grandsons, Braden and Christian.
