JOHN BASSETTI | Bowling Nebraska wins first-ever women's NCAA crown

Nebraska won the NCAA women's bowling championship at Emerald Bowl in Houston last week.
It marked the first-ever women's NCAA bowling title.
The Huskers staved off elimination three times, defeating New Jersey City University, 4-3, before toppling top-seeded Central Missouri State by identical scores of 4-2 in two separate matches.
Nebraska previously won two IBC national titles since the program was elevated to varsity status in 1997. The Huskers' championship was the sixth overall for coach Bill Straub, who guided the program since its days as a club sport.
