DOING BUSINESS WITH THE FEDS | Finding opportunities

Doing business with the federal government can begin with an online search of Web sites listing what products and services the federal agencies are shopping for. Some sites to start with:
www.fedbizopps.gov -- This site is the government's portal for advertising information about federal contracts and awards with an estimated value of $25,000 or more.
www.fpdc.gov -- This Federal Procurement Data Center site contains detailed information on contracts over $25,000 and summary data on procurements of less than $25,000.
www.sba.gov/GC -- Click on "Resources and Opportunities" on this Small Business Administration site for a list of procurement Web sites by agency.
www.census.gov/naics -- Most federal agencies use the North American Industry Classification System to identify products by manufacturer type. Businesses can access this site to find the NAICS codes for their products.
www.drms.dla.mil/htbin/fscsearch.pl -- Companies can access this site to obtain a Federal Supply Class or Service code, necessary for bidding on a Department of Defense contract.
www.ccr.gov -- Business owners can register on this Central Contractor Registration site to make information about their companies available to all government users.
pro-net.sba.gov -- PRO-Net is an online database of nearly 200,000 small, disadvantaged and women-owned businesses which is used by federal and state government agencies and prime contractors seeking qualified small business contractors, subcontractors and/or partnership opportunities.
