Spending and contracts
The city's board of control approved these items Thursday:
A $48,612 contract with Akron Tractor and Equipment, Akron, to buy a backhoe for the water department.
An agreement with Mahoning County to reimburse the city up to $80,000 for the city's costs of disposing of its supply of abandoned tires.
An agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to pay $18,734 as the city's share for curbs and handicap ramps in the resurfacing of U.S. Route 422.
A $16,000 settlement with four park department employees over a grievance concerning the process used for determining layoffs. The city will pay $9,200, and the park department, $6,800.
A letter of credit up to $10,000 for a bid bond for Gene Barbour, doing business as MBE Contracting Inc., Youngstown.
Extended a contract with Charlene Taiclet through Oct. 31 not to exceed $10,000 to handle administration of the city's litter control enforcement program.
Payment of $7,500 to Home Carpet Co. for replacement of carpet at the sewer plant.
Payment of $3,767 to L.E.C. Inc., Youngstown, for emergency repair of a catch basin at 677 West Heights.
Payment of $5,188 to K.T. Lyden Construction, Youngstown, for emergency repair of a catch basin at 625 Clearmount Drive.
