CELEBRATION Historical society to mark its silver anniversary

The event will be held at the Niles Masonic Temple.
NILES -- Harold Bailey, also known as "The Friendly Trapper," is set to speak at the Niles Historical Society's annual spring dinner.
The event is set for 6 p.m. April 21 at the Masonic Temple, 22 W. Church St., Niles. Tickets are $12, with proceeds benefiting the society.
Bailey, of Canfield, has been trapping wild creatures for years and also gives tips and recipes. Bailey is not an exterminator, but rather builds his own traps and works to find inexpensive, nontoxic solutions to the most common household pest problems.
He has traveled across the country, delivering speeches to fans of his no-nonsense, practical advice and stories.
He has a regular feature on WKBN-TV Channel 27, and WKBN 570 AM.
The dinner menu will feature braised steak, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and dessert and will be prepared by the Ida McKinley Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
The event will kick off the organization's 25th anniversary celebration. The group has spent the past quarter century renovating the home at 503 Brown St. -- an 1862 Victorian home -- into a 14-room museum filled with more than 4,000 items on display.
The museum was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in February 1984.
The museum is open to the public from 2-5 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. Donations are $2 and children 12 and younger are admitted free.
For tickets to the spring dinner, call the office at (330) 544-2143, or society President Jessie Scott at (330) 652-5907.
