PREP ROUNDUP Spartans use offense early; Fitch wins two



The Falcon baseball team remained unbeaten with a pair of wins in Myrtle Beach.
BOARDMAN -- Jaclyn Corroto and Ashley DiDomenico each had two hits, with a double apiece, as the Boardman High softball team defeated Struthers 10-1 Wednesday.
DiDomenico (4-0) and Sarah Albani combined to hold the Wildcats (1-3) to five singles.
Corroto scored three runs, DiDomenico had four RBIs, while Ali Sfara and Meagan Cunningham each doubled for the Spartans (6-0).
After scoring five runs in the first inning, the Spartans put the game away with a three-run third.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Mallory Conger hit a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning to help Poland beat Lancaster in the Bulldogs' first game in the Grand Strand Softball Classic.
Conger (3-1) also got the win for the Bulldogs, while Steffi Graf added two hits.
In the second game, Jenna Susany (3-0) and Conger combined for a four-inning no-hitter. Conger also had two hits, including a double, and Ciera Urichich and Krista Ginnetti also had two hits. Ashley Conger went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, and Graf had a double and four RBIs for Poland (6-1). Fairfax fell to 7-8.
Poland plays Massillon Washington today at 11 a.m.
Ursuline 9, Jackson-Milton 4
NORTH JACKSON -- Ursuline used a five-run fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead.
Alessandra Parry led off the inning with a single and Ashley Siembieda doubled.
With two outs, freshmen Natalie Palermo singled, Jolanta Carkido tripled and Kelly Podolsky doubled. Sophomore Ashley Koval singled, and when winning pitcher Maureen Cearfoss singled, Koval was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.
Parry, Siembieda and Palermo each had two hits for the Irish.
Shannon McGee hit a double and single and Carrie Fiol two singles for the Bluejays.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Fitch's two baseball wins in the Hawaiian Tropic earned it a spot in the championship bracket of the round-robin event.
Jeremy Hartman (2-0) worked six innings for the Falcons to pick up the win in the first contest.
Dom Modarelli hit a triple, and John Burnich doubled for the Falcons.
Alex Oles (1-0), who had a save in the first game, also relieved in the second contest to pick up a win.
Burnich and Mo Hassen Jr. each hit a double for the Falcons (7-0).
