NEW YORK -- Kevin Brown became the 101st pitcher in major league history with 200 wins. Brown (3-0) gave up one run in seven innings. He and Mike Mussina, who won his 200th on Sunday, are the first teammates to accomplish the feat in the same season. Jason Giambi hit a three-run homer off Mark Hendrickson (0-1) in the first. Jorge Posada homered and Gary Sheffield had RBI double. Carl Crawford singled home the Devil Rays' run in the third.
White Sox 10, Royals 9
CHICAGO -- Joe Crede hit a bases-loaded single in the ninth to lift Chicago to its fourth win in five games. The White Sox led 6-0, then fell behind 9-8. Curtis Leskanic (0-1) took the loss after loading the bases. Miguel Olivo had three RBIs and Juan Uribe had three hits and two RBIs for Chicago. Carlos Beltran hit a pair of two-run homers and Mike Sweeney and Benito Santiago also homered for the Royals.
Tigers 5, Blue Jays 3
DETROIT -- Carlos Pena hit a two-run double in a four-run first inning. The Tigers have won six of their first eight games, one season after beginning 0-9 and finishing with an AL-record 119 losses. Nate Robertson (1-0) gave up two runs and three hits over five innings in his first start of the season. Toronto threatened in the ninth before Danny Patterson induced Vernon Wells into a game-ending double play for the save.
Athletics 9, Rangers 4
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jermaine Dye homered twice to drive in four runs and Bobby Crosby hit a three-run shot for Oakland's fourth win in five games. Dye homered in consecutive innings, staking the A's to a 6-0 lead. Crosby hit his first homer in the fifth to give Oakland a 9-1 lead and chase R.A. Dickey (1-1). Mark Redman (1-0) scattered eight hits in six innings against the majors' best hitting team. Rangers second baseman Alfonso Soriano hit his first home run.
Angels 6, Mariners 5
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Jeff DaVanon, a late-inning defensive replacement, hit a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the ninth and Tim Salmon homered and drove in three runs. Bret Boone homered for the Mariners, whose 1-7 start is the worst in the franchise's 28-year history. Troy Percival (1-0), the Angels' career saves leader, couldn't protect a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning and was charged with his first blown save in three attempts this season before getting credit for the victory -- Anaheim's seventh straight over Seattle.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Astros 11, Cardinals 1
ST. LOUIS -- Wade Miller won his fifth consecutive start against St. Louis and Lance Berkman homered for the second straight game as Houston completed a three-game sweep. Miller (2-0) walked a career-high seven, but allowed two hits in seven shutout innings. Jeff Bagwell hit a three-run homer in the ninth, and Bagwell, Craig Biggio and Richard Hidalgo had three hits each for Houston. The Cardinals (1-6) are off to their worst home start since 1973.
Brewers 3, Giants 0
SAN FRANCISCO -- Geoff Jenkins homered and three pitchers combined on a four-hitter, helping Milwaukee avoid a three-game sweep. Wes Obermueller (1-1) allowed three hits in 62/3 innings, and also contributed an RBI single and a sacrifice. Dan Bennett and Dan Kolb completed the Brewers' first shutout since Aug. 31 at the Cubs.
Marlins 9, Expos 0
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Dontrelle Willis hit his second career homer and Miguel Cabrera homered for the fourth straight game. Willis (2-0) went 3-for-3, adding a single and double, and is 6-for-6 at the plate this season. The Marlins have not allowed a run in 21 innings. Montreal (2-7) has been shut out for 24 innings in a row.
Braves 6, Mets 1
NEW YORK -- Rookie Dewayne Wise touched off a five-run rally with a triple and Andruw Jones drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a double. John Thomson (1-0) allowed one run and seven hits in eight innings and struck out seven.
Rockies 14, Diamondbacks 4
DENVER -- Aaron Miles had two home runs and six RBIs and Joe Kennedy pitched six innings. Colorado had 15 hits in its third straight win while Arizona dropped its fifth in a row. Kennedy (1-0) threw five scoreless innings before tiring in the sixth, when he gave up a two-run homer to Luis Gonzalez.
Dodgers 11, Padres 4
SAN DIEGO -- Shawn Green went 4-for-4 with four runs scored. Kaz Ishii hit a two-run single in a six-run second inning against David Wells (0-1), who allowed eight runs and 10 hits and was chased by Green's double with no outs in the fifth.
