CORTLAND -- An interference with custody warrant is issued for a woman who left the area with her 2-year-old child.
The warrant was issued from Central District Court for Kathy Lee Barry, the mother of Kelli Rose Barry, said city Detective Dave Morris.
"The little girl has been missing since January," Morris said. "She was last seen with her mother, who does not have custody."
Morris said the mother went to visit with the girl on Jan. 29 while the father, who has temporary custody of the child, was at work.
"She was allowed to take the child, but she never returned," Morris said.
Descriptions
Kelli is about 2 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 28 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes. She also has a scar on her left thumb.
Her mother is 37, has red hair and brown eyes and is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds, Morris said.
Since January, Kathy Lee Barry has contacted the child's father by telephone and e-mail, Morris said.
"She's basically taunting him," Morris said. "After he'd get a phone call or indication where she is, we would go there -- but then she'd be gone."
Morris said police in Pennsylvania have arrested a man who was assisting Kathy Lee Barry.
"We believe she may be in the Salem area, and we are hoping that someone may spot her," Morris said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cortland Police Department at (330) 638-1000.
