NHL ROUNDUP | Tuesday's playoff games

Bruins 4, Canadiens 3
MONTREAL -- The Boston Bruins can thank Glen Murray and Alex Kovalev for their 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series with the Montreal Canadiens. Murray took advantage of Kovalev's mistake to score on a breakaway 9:27 into the second overtime, giving the Bruins the victory. Boston tied it when Mike Knuble scored with 30.7 seconds remaining in regulation. Kovalev had the puck near his blue line when he was slashed by Travis Green. He immediately tried to take off his glove while the puck skidded away. Not only did he ignore the puck, but Kovalev also collided with defenseman Sheldon Souray, giving Murray a clear path to the Montreal net. Murray beat Jose Theodore with a wrist shot. Theodore stopped 40 shots, but was beaten by Michael Nylander and Jiri Slegr. Boston won its second overtime game of the series. Knuble tied it with a backhander just inside the goalpost, but had to wait several anxious moments for a video review to award the goal. Mike Ribeiro had two goals, and Kovalev one for the Canadiens.
Predators 3, Red Wings 0
NASHVILLE -- Tomas Vokoun stopped 41 shots in his second straight brilliant effort. Steve Sullivan, Vladimir Orszagh and Greg Johnson each scored and Dan Hamhuis had two assists. The six-year franchise ensured a return visit to Music City for Game 6 on Saturday against the 10-time Stanley Cup winners. Game 5 will be in Detroit on Thursday night. Nobody scored more goals in the regular season than the Red Wings in winning the Presidents' Trophy, but they haven't been able to crack Vokoun since the series shifted to Nashville. He also stopped 41 shots in a 3-1 victory Sunday.
Flames 4, Canucks 0
CALGARY -- Miikka Kiprusoff made 20 saves for his first playoff shutout and the Flames used a scoring burst in a 27-second span of the second period to even the series. The Flames, winning a home playoff game for the first time since 1995, saw their special teams come alive with one short-handed goal and one with the man advantage. It was Calgary's first win at home against the Canucks in 11 tries. The series resumes Thursday with Game 5 at Vancouver. Stephane Yelle, playing his first postseason game this year, scored the short-handed goal just one minute into the second period. Calgary's second goal, on the power play, came on a right-wing blast by Chris Clark. And 27 seconds later, Shean Donovan put the Flames ahead by three.
Sharks 4, Blues 3
ST. LOUIS -- Scott Thornton and Alexander Korolyuk each got their first two goals of the playoffs. San Jose can close it out in Game 5 on Thursday night at home. After losing the first two games, the Blues had a strong showing in Game 3, outshooting the Sharks 25-8 in the first two periods of a 4-1 victory. The Sharks regained control in the second period of Game 4, spending most of the period in the Blues' end and outshooting them 12-5 while scoring twice to snap a 1-1 tie. Mike Danton, Pavol Demitra and Doug Weight scored for the Blues, who have rallied from a 3-1 series deficit only twice in 12 tries in franchise history -- the last time in 1999.
