Man held in assault is hit with more charges

SHARON, Pa. -- Police said a man arrested in an assault on a 28-year-old city woman found himself in more trouble when officers recognized him as the person who had given them a false identification during an earlier arrest.
James W. Coleman, 22, whose address is undetermined, was picked up in the 300 block of Quinby Street around 4 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple assault.
Police said he was also charged under a warrant with forgery, identity theft, false swearing and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Police had arrested him in the 200 block of Mesabi Street on Oct. 8, where he was found to be highly intoxicated and in possession of crack cocaine, police said. He was charged with drug possession and underage drinking.
He didn't give police his real name but identified himself as an under-age 21 relative who lives in Pittsburgh. He also signed that relative's name on arrest documents, police said.
He was released on bond in that case but District Justice James McMahon ordered him to be held in Mercer County Jail with bond set at $50,000 on the latest charges.
