Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 4, 12 innings
BOSTON -- Youngstown native Mark Malaska (1-0) pitched two innings for the win, retiring the side in order in the 12th. Malaska was promoted from Class AAA Pawtucket on Friday. Mark Bellhorn hit a tying single in the ninth inning and David Ortiz had a two-run homer in the 12th. Curt Schilling allowed four runs and six hits in eight innings, struck out 10 and walked none in his first home game at Fenway Park. Eric Hinske's first homer of the year gave Toronto a 4-2 lead in the sixth.
Yankees 5, White Sox 4
NEW YORK -- Mike Mussina got his 200th win and rookie Bubba Crosby hit a three-run homer for New York. Gary Sheffield drove in two runs to help the Yankees kick-start their offense a bit and gain a split of the four-game series. After going 3-3 on their road trip, the White Sox head to Chicago for their home opener Tuesday against Kansas City. Mussina (1-2) was coming off two poor starts against Tampa Bay and survived a poor first inning to become the 100th major league pitcher to reach 200 wins. It took him five tries.
Mariners 9, Athletics 4, 10 innings
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Seattle avoided matching the worst start in franchise history, rallying with two runs in the ninth to tie and getting a two-run homer by Bret Boone in a five-run 10th. Seattle tied the game off former Mariner reliever and new Oakland closer Arthur Rhodes with RBI singles by Ichiro Suzuki and Randy Winn. The Mariners broke open the game against Chris Hammond (1-1) in the 10th to avoid matching their 0-6 start in 1991.
Tigers 6, Twins 5, 10 innings
DETROIT -- Craig Monroe hit an RBI single in the 10th to give the Detroit its fifth win in six games. Rondell White walked with one out in the 10th, and pinch-runner Andres Torres stole second. Monroe followed with a line single to left off Joe Roa (1-1). Detroit started last season 0-9 en route to an AL-record 119 losses. The Tigers were also 3-13 in extra inning games last year. Steve Colyer (1-0) got his first major league win with an inning of scoreless relief. Carlos Pena went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Tigers.
Devil Rays 10, Orioles 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Victor Zambrano won his third game of the season by allowing one run over 62/3 innings for Tampa Bay. Zambrano (3-0) gave up seven hits, two walks and struck out six. He pitched out of trouble throughout, holding the Orioles to 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. The right-hander is the first starting pitcher to win three times through his team's first seven games since Kevin Appier accomplished the feat for Kansas City in 1995. Aubrey Huff, Jose Cruz Jr. and Tino Martinez homered for the Devil Rays.
Angels 7, Rangers 2
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Bartolo Colon allowed two runs and seven hits over eight innings, and Vladimir Guerrero homered as Anaheim's two prized free agent acquisitions led the Angels. Colon (2-0) recovered after allowing hits to the first two Rangers, keeping in check a lineup that produced 12 runs in each of the first two games of the series. He struck out five and walked one, allowing just one earned run. Guerrero led off the sixth with his second homer. Chan Ho Park (0-2) gave up six runs and 10 hits over six-plus innings for the Rangers, whose three-game winning streak ended. Park struck out five and walked one.

Giants 6, Padres 3
SAN DIEGO -- Barry Bonds remains at 659 career homers after failing to connect for the fifth straight game. He was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. Pedro Feliz hit a two-run double in the eighth off Jay Witasick (0-1), Edgardo Alfonzo had a tying single, and Neifi Perez hit a two-run single off Antonio Osuna. Jason Christiansen (1-0) pitched the seventh, and Matt Herges got three outs for his third save.
Marlins 3, Phillies 1
MIAMI -- Josh Beckett (1-0) allowed two hits and struck out 11 in seven inning as Florida completed a three-game sweep and handed Philadelphia (1-5) its fourth consecutive loss. Florida has won 10 straight home games against Philadelphia. Armando Benitez allowed one hit and threw 25 pitches in the ninth for his fifth save and fourth in as many days. Miguel Cabrera and Damion Easley homered off Kevin Millwood (0-2).
Rockies 4, Dodgers 2
LOS ANGELES -- Shawn Estes (2-0) allowed one run and three hits in seven innings, and Vinny Castilla and Jeromy Burnitz homered off Odalis Perez (0-1) as Colorado stopped a four-game losing streak. Shawn Chacon got his first career save despite allowing a run on a wild pitch, helping the Rockies end a nine-game losing streak to the Dodgers.
Cardinals 6, Diamondbacks 5
PHOENIX -- Pinch-hitter Marlon Anderson hit a tie-breaking homer off Matt Mantei (0-1) in the ninth for a three-game sweep. Jason Isringhausen loaded the bases in the ninth with three walks, then got Alex Cintron on a grounder for his first save. Roberto Alomar singled in a run in a four-run seventh that tied it at 5.
Cubs 10, Braves 2
ATLANTA -- Kerry Wood tied a Cubs' record with seven straight strikeouts and finished with 11. Corey Patterson, Michael Barrett, pinch-hitter Alex Gonzalez and Moises Alou all homered for the Cubs. Wood (2-0) got all seven batters to go down swinging during his streak, retiring the first six on offspeed pitches. Wood also struck out seven straight as a rookie against Houston on May 6, 1998, when he struck out 20 to tie the record for a nine-inning game. Mark Prior also struck out seven straight batters against the Astros on Aug. 5, 2002.
Mets 4, Expos 1
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Eric Valent hit his first major league home run, a go-ahead, two-run drive that backed Tom Glavine. Mike Piazza, making his first start for the Mets at first base, and also got banged up. He collided with Peter Bergeron in the third inning after Bergeron bunted to Glavine. Glavine allowed just an unearned run and five hits in seven innings.
Astros 7, Brewers 4
MILWAUKEE -- Lance Berkman hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for Houston. Berkman's homer, his first of the season, capped a five-run rally against Doug Davis (1-1) in the third inning. The four RBIs were also his first of the season. It was Berkman's third career slam and first batting right-handed. His last grand slam was June 20, 2002 and was hit in Milwaukee. Roy Oswalt (1-0) gave up runs in the first and sixth innings before being replaced by Brad Lidge to start the seventh. Oswalt allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out six. Junior Spivey went 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs, a run scored and a walk for Milwaukee.
