WBC featherweight rematch goes to Injin Chi

MANCHESTER, England (AP) -- Injin Chi knocked out Michael Brodie in the seventh round Saturday to win the vacant WBC featherweight title, six months after they fought a disputed draw.
There was no doubt about the result this time. South Korea's Chi overwhelmed the Manchester-born Brodie from the opening bell of the scheduled 12-round bout.
Chi floored Brodie with a right cross midway through the first round and kept up constant pressure with a barrage of powerful combinations.
Brodie was deducted a point in the fourth round for a head-butt which opened a cut around Chi's left eye.
In the seventh, Chi knocked Brodie down with a left uppercut. Brodie fell to his hands and knees, his head resting on the canvas, and was counted out at 2:48 of the round by Italian referee Massimo Barrovecchio.
The win improved Chi's record to 28-2-1 (17 knockouts). Brodie is 35-2-1.
The title had been vacant since previous champion Erik Morales changed weight classes.
In their first fight, Oct. 18, Chi was originally declared the winner by a narrow decision but the verdict was later changed to a draw because of a mistaken point deduction against Brodie.
