SCOPE Howland Senior Center, 9273 High St. N.E., Warren, activities are as follows: Monday, 500 cards from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, spring fling from 6 to 9:30 p.m. with Ed Vallus Band at a cost of $10 in advance; and Thursday, craft emporium from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to design a spring garden wreath with sign-up sheet at front desk. Other activities include mini-vacation May 10-13 at a cost of $450. Organizational meetings for bocce at 5 p.m. May 13 and for golf at 9:30 a.m. May 14, both at the center. Germantown home and garden tour June 7 in Columbus with breakfast and lunch included at a cost of $69 a person. Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, income tax appointments at 9 a.m. and bridge and Follies at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting and exercises at 10, outing to Tuscany at 10:30, blood pressure screening from noon to 1 p.m., chorus at 1; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10, tai chi at noon, blood pressure screening at 12:30 p.m. and yoga and 500 card club at 1; Thursday, woodcarvers and TOPS at 9, Boardman Park satellite and Touching Lives Knitting Group at 10, blood pressure screenings at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., square dancing at 1, and line dancing at 3; and Friday, exercises and Sebring Fun Day at 10 a.m. and crafts at 12:30 p.m.. AARP tax experts will do income taxes free of charge to seniors until Monday. Appointments are needed by calling the center. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount and HEAP programs. The SBC discount has been raised to $12.39 per month for eligible applicants.
