Movie executive will speakat YSU colloquium
YOUNGSTOWN -- Film producer Peter Guber will be featured at Youngstown State University's Colloquium on Free Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kilcawley Center's Ohio Room.
Guber is former chairman and chief executive of Sony Pictures Entertainment and founder and current chairman of Mandalay Entertainment.
Guber has produced such films as "The Color Purple," "The Witches of Eastwick," "Rain Man," "Midnight Express," "Missing" and "Batman." He also is recognized for expanding Sony Pictures Entertainment's leadership in television with prime-time hit programs such as "Seinfeld," "Mad About You" and "The Nanny."
He is a professor and 30-year member of the faculty at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Theater, Film and Television. He also co-hosts "Sunday Morning Shootout" on AMC with Peter Bart, editor-in-chief of Variety.
The annual colloquium began in 1981 to foster ideas that are conducive to the growth of the free enterprise system. It is funded by an endowment established by Paul J. and Marguerite K. Thomas.
