MERCER, Pa. -- The Mercer County Historical Society's Chamber Players will present a free spring concert at 7 p.m. April 25 at the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel, South Pitt Street, Mercer. The concert will feature music from Mozart to the movies. A cookie-and-punch reception will follow.

'Hansel and Gretel'
YOUNGSTOWN -- The timeless children's opera "Hansel and Gretel" will be presented at Ford Theater in Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University this week.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. next Sunday. For information or reservations, call the box office at (330) 941-3105. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for children.
Operetta revue
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Fifteen Westminster College students will present an operetta revue, titled "When the Lights Go Down," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Orr Auditorium.
"The production consists of scenes and beloved melodies from 'The Merry Widow' to 'The Tales of Hoffman' and beyond," said Dr. Anne Bentz, assistant professor of music and coordinator of the event. "Students perform multiple roles, and the production is full of dance. It promises to be a night full of humor and energy for all."
Matthew Fodor, a junior from Hermitage, is in the production.

Kite Festival Saturday
CANFIELD -- Go fly a kite at Mill Creek MetroParks' Kite Festival. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the MetroParks Farm on Route 46.
Members of the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites and Fly Pittsburgh will present kites of all kinds, games, flying demonstrations and contests.
The contests will offer separate divisions for handmade and manufactured kites (all kites must be airworthy).
Awards will be presented for handmade kites for best cooperative effort, largest, smallest and best of show. Manufactured kites will be judged for best modifications, longest tail and people's choice.

Italian dinner-show
YOUNGSTOWN -- Richard J. Volpini, a Mahoning Valley developer, and Robert A. Calcagni, former vice president of Commercial Intertech and an author, will be honored at Ciao Promotions annual Italian dinner-show on May 28 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall. The Pino Marelli Band from Detroit and vocalist John Bigante from Pittsburgh will perform.
