LAW
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joe Cregan, an attorney and former Youngstown resident, has been named a partner in the Atlanta-based law firm Morris, Manning & amp; Martin, LLP. With 167 attorneys on staff in Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington, D.C., the firm specializes in business law.
Cregan joined the firm as an associate in 1997 after serving 12 years in several state government positions in Georgia, most recently as director of the Regulatory Services Division of the Georgia Insurance Department of Insurance. He is a 1978 graduate of Ursuline High School, has a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University, a master's degree in public administration from Kent State University and a law degree from Georgia State University. He lives in Marietta, Ga.
TRADE GROUP
YOUNGSTOWN -- Deborah J. Feke is the new executive director of the Youngstown Area Grocers Association, replacing Catherine Lind, who had been in the position for six years.
Feke had been associate director of Agency Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and had previously served as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mahoning Valley. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University.
HEALTH CARE
HOWLAND -- Diane Penn of Andover has been promoted to the position of assistant director of nursing at Shepherd of the Valley, Howland. A registered nurse, she joined the company in 2002 and had been staff development coordinator at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles.
MANUFACTURING
NILES -- Niles Expanded Metals is launching a new product sales group for specialty products which is operated and directed by Terry Whitford. A Boardman resident, Whitford joins the company with more than 19 years of experience in the expanded metal industry. He has a degree in electronic engineering from Sheridan College in Canada and had been a vice president of marketing for his most recent previous employer.
GOVERNMENT
YOUNGSTOWN -- David J. Tyhosky, formerly of Youngstown, has been promoted to manager of recruiting and organizational development for the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
Tyhosky joined OPERS in January 2001 as the primary recruiter. He had been employed in human resources at Home Savings & amp; Loan Co. and also worked for Pro Resources Inc. and most recently for Olsten Professional Services, where he was personnel supervisor and recruiter.
He has a bachelor's degree in business administration and an associate degree in general management, both from Youngstown State University.
INSURANCE
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Frank Gates Companies, a third-party administrator providing workers' compensation, auto/general liability and property claims management, has promoted Struthers native Bob Zamary to president in addition to his duties as chief operating officer.
Zamary is a 17-year veteran of the workers' compensation field and previously served as senior vice president of national claims administration for Frank Gates. The company has locations in more than 40 cities, including one in Youngstown.
