BASEBALL Satterlee doubles in Irish victory; Salem triumphs



Western Reserve and West Branch swept doubleheaders.
STRUTHERS -- Ryan Satterlee hit a two-run double in the fifth inning Saturday to help the Ursuline High baseball team rally past Poland, 6-3, at Cene Park.
Satterlee doubled twice and singled for the Irish (4-1). Brad Borghetti had three hits, including a triple, two runs scored and one RBI. Cliff Panezich singled and scored twice.
Pat Smith earned the win in relief. He had six strikeouts in three-plus innings.
Brett Pitzulo had two hits for the Bulldogs.
Salem 15, Crestview 4
NEW WATERFORD -- Grant Sevek homered to lead a 13-hit attack for the Quakers (4-1), who have won four straight.
Mark Kolich tripled for Salem, while Landon Heath, Tim Singer and Cody Dillon all doubled.
Kolich finished with three hits, while Sevek and Heath had two each. Sevek drove in four runs. Singer was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits in three innings.
Dave Wendel doubled and singled for Crestview (1-3).
Springfield 10, Lowellville 3
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Tigers recorded seven extra-base hits among their 10-hit attack.
Aaron Wood doubled three times, Julian Carabello had three hits, including two doubles, while Brad Adams and Mike Sobnosky homered for the Tigers (3-1, 2-0 Inter-County League).
Steve Pinciaro homered for the Rockets (0-4, 0-4), who gave up a seven-run fourth inning.
W. Reserve 16-11, E. Palestine 10-8
BERLIN CENTER -- Starter Jeff Zatchok and reliever Nick Sanders picked up victories.
In the opener, Sanders, a senior, doubled and accounted for six runs. Senior Luke Srock had a three-run single; Ryan Pauken had a single and double; and Josh Yeany had two hits.
Sophomore Jeff Zatchok had two singles and pitched the first five innings for the victory.
For East Palestine, Zac Dunn and Zac Weber each had a single and double, with Weber knocking in two runs.
Nick Henry had a single, double and four RBIs, and Brad Bable had three singles and two RBIs.
In the 11-8 victory, junior Josh Lattanzi had two singles and an RBI; junior Ryan Pauken had two singles; Srock had three singles and an RBI; Sanders had two singles and three RBIs; and senior Jake Zatchok had two singles.
Josh Menning had two singles and an RBI for the Bulldogs.
Sanders entered in the fifth inning and got the victory in relief of starter Brandon Moherman, a freshman who pitched his first varsity game.
Reserve is 2-3; Palestine is 1-4.
W. Branch 9-19, Southeast 1-0
BELOIT -- Tom Orlando went 7-for-7, with a home run and two doubles, and drove in nine runs, as the Warriors (3-2) completed the sweep.
Justin Grove added five hits and three RBIs on the day and was the winning pitcher in the second game. J.R. Gibson and Jim King each had three hits and Andy Todor had three RBIs.
Tad Gaspar pitched a complete-game five-hitter in the opener.
Sean Fisher hit a double for Southeast (2-3).
Canton Timken 9-13, Wilson 2-3
CANTON -- Timken collected 21 hits to record the sweep and improve to 2-3.
Brian Bailey went 2-for-5, Tom Molligan tripled and Kevin Newberry and Chris Truman doubled for Wilson (0-5).
