Milliron tosses short no-hitter



HANOVERTON -- Salem High baseball player Travis Milliron pitched a no-hitter Friday as the Quakers shut out United 11-0 in five innings at the Golden Eagles' field.
Milliron (1-1) struck out six and walked one for the Quakers (3-1). The Golden Eagles were handed their first loss in four outings.
Cruising along 4-0, Salem sent 13 batters to the plate in the fifth inning as it put the contest away with seven more runs.
Mark Kolich and Grant Sevek each hit home runs for the Quakers, who have hit four for the season. Sevek also hit a double.
Landon Heath hit a double and single. Kolich also singled.
Boardman 4, Poland 3
STRUTHERS -- Mike Evans singled home Nate Tacsik and Armani Johnson in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Spartans snapped a two-game losing streak in winning their first game of the season.
The Bulldogs (1-3) had built a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Softball
COLUMBIANA -- Crestview scored four runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 victory over United in a Tri-County League game.
Chelsea Crowell doubled, singled and had two RBIs while Kelsie Ray added a double and two RBIs for Crestview (3-1, 2-1).
Teddi Olenick, Caitlyn Crowell and Jen Harroff each had two singles.
Jess Sferra struck out 11 and walked one for the complete-game victory.
