WARREN -- Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning N.W., will present a production of C.S. Lewis' Christian allegorical fantasy story "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" at 7 p.m. Friday-April 18. The play is an adaptation of the second book of C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia." In the story, four English schoolchildren find an enchanted wardrobe that leads to another world. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.
Economic discussion
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen will sponsor a conference "Ecojustice: Global and Local Economic Dimensions" from 7 p.m. April 23 to 8 p.m. April 24 at Villa Maria., Pa. The program will discuss creation of sustainable economic systems.
Dr. James Bernard Quilligan, managing director of the Brandt 21 Forum in Philadelphia, will speak on reorganization of global economics. Sister Barbara O'Donnell, HM, will discuss "Earth, Ethics and Human Energy." There will also be a panel discussion on the impact of sustainable practices on businesses, the environment and community.

Peace activists to speak
YOUNGSTOWN -- Art and Peggy Gish from Athens, Ohio, will report on the Middle East in a program at 7 p.m. April 19 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave. They recently returned from assignments with Christian Peacemaker Teams. He will report on Hebron on the West Bank, and she will report on Baghdad, Iraq. Peggy recently won the Yoko Tada Humanitarian Award given in Japan for people who work for human rights at the grass-roots level. An offering will be taken. Open house scheduled
NEW WATERFORD -- Cogun Inc. of North Lima recently completed a new $3 million expansion project at Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46. The addition includes more than 32,000-square feet for a new sanctuary that seats about 700 people, classrooms and a multipurpose room. The nondenominational church will have an open house from noon to 2 p.m. April 17. Cogun, Inc. specializes in church construction and has been involved in more than 610 church projects nationally since its founding in 1970.

Stroke Awareness Month
YOUNGSTOWN -- May is Stroke Awareness Month, and the American Heart Association invites all churches in Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties to take part in Stroke Sunday on May 16. Churches that sign up will receive up to 500 free stroke bookmarks with warning signs to distribute in their congregations. AUSTINTOWN -- Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., will celebrate its 50th anniversary at 4 p.m. April 24. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will be the celebrant. A reception will follow at 6 p.m. at the Maronite Center.
